Sheridan College recognizes the need to provide employees with devices and services that act as a telephone and may provide email, texting, web access and other services. Eligible employees may receive a communication device at the discretion of their area manager/supervisor provided they meet at least one of the criteria outlined below.
For employees that do not meet the criteria, you will need to provide rationale for the request and gain approval from the VP Finance and Administration.

In accordance with the guidelines established in the Employee Technology Policy, Sheridan will reimburse eligible employees up to $288.70 (taxes included) towards the purchase price* of a new phone or a phone upgrade—costs above and beyond this amount are the responsibility of the employee. Further, Sheridan will also reimburse employees up to $40 (taxes included) for a protective case for their phone. Cases must be purchased at the same time as the phone.
Employees must purchase their device/cases, using their personal credit card, from our vendor-partner, Bell Canada, via the E-order website that has been setup for Sheridan users. Employees will be reimbursed by Finance after submitting an Expense Claim form along with their purchase receipt.
Once the device is purchased, it is the employee's to keep. Employees are not required to surrender their device upon termination of employment, extended leave of absence, or a reorganization that no longer entitles the employee to have a Sheridan sponsored cellular device. However, the residual value of the cell phone may be considered a taxable benefit.

Employees with a Sheridan supplied cellular device will be sponsored by Sheridan College to receive a monthly cellular service plan with Sheridan’s current cellular carrier.
Monthly plan charges are the responsibility of the department requesting the phone on behalf of the employee. A monthly email statement will be sent to the employee as well as to the employee's manager/supervisor as specified on the request form.
Sheridan's plan provides voice and text services for $5/mo. and data packages starting at $15.25/mo.

Eligible employees ordering a corporate cell phone will be reimbursed by Finance after submitting an Expense Claim form along with their purchase receipt. When completing the expense form, record your purchase details in the 'Other' column and enter the full GL account number (for charge back to your department) in column 7 – you must reference account #552015 for all cell phone transactions.
